THE STATE TREE
Compared with New England, even compared with Coburn Woods, this part of Texas is relatively bare of trees. There are just very few trees. And there are certainly no large trees. Live oaks get up to reasonable size, but few others do. Driving down the flat farm roads, you just don't see many trees. On the other hand, there's always some man-made structure visible on the horizon, at least around here. I think the new state tree is the cellular telephone antenna tower.
